The heart of the South Whidbey Commons is the large team of youth and adult community volunteers who so generously make SWC what it is. Two part-time staff and a Board of Directors work closely with these volunteers to guide SWC programming.

The volunteer Board of the South Whidbey Commons is made up of dedicated individuals who are passionate about creating opportunities to develop a stronger sense of community.

Program Director
Gena Kraha works to develop, coordinate and supervise SWC programs. She teams up with the ICB Manager and Youth Coordinator to coordinate ICB activities. Gena collaborates with and supports AmeriCorps members, and recruits and coordinates community volunteers. As part of her effort to expand programming and increase youth participation, she partners with community members and organizations in meetings, shared program planning, outreach in schools, and participation in community forums. Gena is a former South Whidbey AmeriCorps volunteer who loves to splash in puddles on a rainy day.
ICB Manager and Youth Coordinator
Susannah "Rosie" Woods oversees cafe and bookstore operations, working closely with youth and adult volunteers, AmeriCorps members, SWC Board members and the SWC Program Director, as well as members of partner organizations. Her mission is to ensure every customer receives superb service and the highest quality products.
Susannah has been working with children and food for a long time in no particular order. She has been the Director of Performing Arts at San Domenico, directed with many local youth and professional theatre companies as well as been a chocolatier, pastry chef and manager of a number of local businesses and restaurants. In her spare time, she writes plays and screenplays and is currently working on a short story book for children and a screenplay for animation.
